Are you a regular visitor to CP? Be prepared to pay some extra currency for parking your vehicles there.

To daunt the use of private vehicles and decongest the National Capital, the Union Urban Development Ministry has come up with new technique to purge out the traffic problem. Parking vehicles at CP will cost you more than what it is now.

At the moment, parking vehicles at CP will cost Rs 20 per hour for the first five hours and flat rate of Rs 100 beyond that. However, as per the new plan, the cap will be removed and the users will have to pay extra charges on per hour basis. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has now proposed to lift the Rs 100 cap. The parking fee (for up to eight hours) to Rs 500 for cars and Rs 250 for two-wheeler. The NDMC has increased the parking charges only for surface parking. The multilevel parking charges would remain the same.

There may be extra charges for parking during night hours and the rates will be decided soon. The new rates will come into effect from July. The NDMC also wants to turn many parking lots into no-parking zones. Street parking will now be made a cognizable offence, attracting hefty penalties and even the confiscation of vehicles.
